Fishing net

Inventory No. 27 кв/40 мем

The Vienna chair in Ivan Franko's study has a fishing net on it, which was made by Ivan Franko himself.

Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi mentioned the net in his 1905 essay "Ivan Franko", "I cannot forget an image that got stuck in my memory. It was two years ago when I last saw him. He was sitting at a table in his poor home, barefoot, weaving fishing nets like a poor apostle. He was weaving the nets and writing "Moses". I do not know whether he caught any fish inside the net, but he caught my soul with his poem."
