The catalog of the exhibition Franko made in U.S.S.R. presents samples of the artistic Frankiana of a Soviet era from the Lviv National Literary and Memorial Museum of Ivan Franko collection. The publication focuses on the political instrumentalization of the image of Ivan Franko in the totalitarian era, analyzing it from the perspective of the “thousand-faced hero” mythological model. Paintings, graphic works and sculptures reflect different stages of “the hero’s way” and different stages and aesthetic modes of “sovietization” and “desovietization” of the Kameniar figure.
